ATLANTA, Ga., (April 30, 2026) – Colquitt County Commissioner Marc DeMott was recently elected to serve as President of the 2026 - 2027 Board of Managers for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG). DeMott was sworn in by Rep. Chas Cannon, who also serves as Colquitt County Administrator, during the Installation and Awards Luncheon at this year’s ACCG Annual Conference in Chatham County.
"We are excited to welcome our newly installed Board of Managers, a group of leaders, passionate about public service, chosen by their peers to guide the association," said Executive Director Dave Wills. "Their dedication and expertise will be essential as we collaborate to enhance the well-being of Georgia's counties, which have one purpose, to provide essential and desirable services to constituents.”
As ACCG President and member of the Executive Committee, DeMott will work directly with Dave Wills and the full Board of Managers to lead the Association and guide policies over the next year. The Board will continue to work on issues that focus on increasing county efficiencies, enhancing continuing education offerings, and fostering strong relationships between counties, the state, and federal government.
DeMott was first elected to the ACCG Board of Managers in 2017 as the District 10 Representative. He was elected Third Vice President in 2023, eventually matriculating to President. Since joining the Board, he has been an actively engaged leader in the Association, contributing greatly to its overall success.
In his address to the ACCG membership, he shared with his fellow county officials how he will embrace all counties, work with the ACCG staff to ensure counties have the necessary resources to remain 159 strong as laws and policies evolve, and ensure county officials continue to emerge stronger from whatever challenges they may face.
“Once again, I am honored and humbled to be chosen to represent the citizens of Colquitt County at the state level on this board that promotes leadership, cost savings and legislative advocacy for every Georgia citizen. I look forward to working with the ACCG staff, legislators, state leaders and other additions to the board to keep Georgia as the model for local government throughout the nation. The entire ACCG staff stands ready to assist or direct our local resources and have been proven invaluable time after time for the citizens of Colquitt County and the entire state.” “As I travel throughout this nation now representing the great State of Georgia, this would not have been possible without the faith, education and background of our local community” DeMott stated. “Georgia will always be on my mind”.
