Stephen Whittaker Elected to Leadership GBA Board of Directors

ATLANTA – Stephen Whittaker, senior vice president, and Chief Credit Officer at First National Bank in Bainbridge, has been elected by his peers in south Georgia to serve a three-year term on the Leadership GBA Board of Directors.

Leadership GBA supports the advancement of career bankers by providing leadership development training, serving as a forum through which career bankers can network and exchange ideas, and promoting industry advocacy activities at the local, state, and federal levels.

"Stephen is one of Georgia banking’s best and brightest leaders, and we're fortunate to have someone of his caliber in a leadership role for his peers around the state. We look forward to benefiting from his perspective, wisdom, and experience,” said GBA Chairman Rhodes McLanahan, CEO of First American Bank & Trust Company in Athens.

Whittaker has over ten years of experience in the banking industry, having worked for United Community Bank before joining the First National Bank team in 2013.

Born and raised in Bainbridge, Whittaker received his Bachelor of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2006 and his MBA from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business in 2011. He is a 2016 Georgia Banking School Graduate of Distinction and a 2019 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.

Active in the community, Whittaker serves as an elder for Grace Church of Bainbridge.
